It is with great pleasure to be the new Principal of Dayton SMART Elementary. I am honored to lead a school with such persevering students, dedicated staff, and supportive school community. I feel very fortunate to be part of this learning community and to support the students and families.
On a personal note, I have been married to my spouse for 32 years. We have five adult children and four grandchildren. I grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico in a bi-lingual home. While supporting my husband in his military career I had the opportunity to live in many diverse communities and was able to experience many different cultures. It is through these adventures that I found my passion for urban education.
Professionally, I have worked in the field of education for over 25 years. With experience in both the public and private school settings. I completed my Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership at Liberty University in 2021. I have a Master of Education in Teaching & Learning from Liberty University, a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies as well as Family and Consumer Science from Eastern New Mexico University, and an Associate of Arts degree in Marketing from Eastern New Mexico University.
I am passionate about urban education and consider it my calling to provide high quality, diverse, inclusive, and equitable education to all students in urban communities. Meeting those needs through innovative, culturally responsive practices, professional development, and processes driven to inspire change in the community. Most importantly, I believe that students are at the center of all school-related decisions. Because the relationships between families and the school are vital to the success of our students, I encourage you to become involved in every way possible.
