Where is the school located?

We are located at 601 S. Keowee St., Dayton, OH 45410.

What is a charter school?

Dayton SMART Elementary is a free public charter school. The school operates using public tax dollars and its charter is authorized by the Ohio Council of Community Schools. Students are eligible for state and federal programs; all breakfasts and lunches are no charge to students.

Who is eligible to attend?

Any student within Ohio is eligible to apply for a grade. The school does not consider grades or test scores. We will serve students in Kindergarten – 5th grade for the 2023-2024 school year. Learn more about enrollment here.

How do I enroll?

Please call (937) 222-2812 or stop by the school to determine the best way for you to complete the application.

How many seats are available?

The number of seats vary from grade to grade. They range from 25-50 students throughout grades.

Are uniforms required?

Yes, students are required to wear uniforms each day. Uniform shirts are provided by the school for a fee. Learn more about uniforms here.

Is transportation provided?

The school currently has two full-size buses to provide transportation to students. DSE is committed to working with families throughout Dayton to meet their transportation needs.

Do you have to re-apply every year?

No, current DSE students do not have to re-apply. Current students just need to indicate their intent to return in February and DSE asks that you notify the school if you do not plan on returning.
